Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix get System Software 26.09: the update that quietly fixes the most annoying shutdown bugs

Garmin is rolling out System Software 26.09 to several premium watches, including the Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Pro, as well as the Enduro 2, Epix (Gen 2) and Marq Gen 2.

The release follows months on version 25.11 for stable-channel users, after earlier testing in Garmin’s beta program.

The update is being distributed in stages and may take days to reach every eligible device. Garmin has said the rollout initially targets about 20% of compatible watches, a common approach meant to limit risk if unexpected issues appear.

What changes in 26.09?

System Software 26.09 includes roughly a dozen changes, with most focused on bug fixes rather than new features. The headline addition is support for Garmin’s Rally 110 and Rally 210 cycling power meter pedals.

Several fixes address everyday reliability problems, including crashes some users reported in Garmin Coach and during music controls like skipping tracks. Garmin also says it corrected issues spanning GPS profile settings not saving properly and occasional pairing problems with certain power meters.

Smaller tweaks that matter

Garmin adjusted the Upload RAM option so it appears only when the watch is connected to Garmin Connect, reducing confusion in the settings menus. The company also resolved a handful of interface and localization glitches, such as missing translations and text that did not fit correctly in some languages.

For owners who have been waiting for stability improvements, the focus on shutdown and app-related fixes may be the most noticeable change. Users can typically check for the firmware manually from the watch’s update menu, but availability depends on Garmin’s phased rollout schedule.
