Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 SE arrives in China: a smaller 120Hz tablet that bets big on battery life
Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Pad 2 SE in China, positioning it as a budget-friendly Android tablet with a more compact footprint than the first-generation Redmi Pad launched in 2023.
Despite the smaller body, the new model aims to stand out with a high-refresh display and a larger battery.
The Redmi Pad 2 SE features a 9.7-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 2 048 x 1 280 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Xiaomi says the panel can reach up to 600 nits of peak brightness, targeting smoother scrolling and better outdoor visibility for the price segment.
A new Snapdragon for entry tablets
Powering the tablet is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 4G, built on a 6 nm process and introduced in late 2025 as an updated platform for affordable devices. Xiaomi is pairing it with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage in the launch configuration.
Expandable storage is also part of the pitch, with a TF card slot that supports up to 2TB. The tablet uses an all-metal unibody design, a build choice that remains relatively uncommon in the lowest-priced tablet tiers.
Big battery, modest extras
Xiaomi equips the Redmi Pad 2 SE with a 7 600mAh battery and claims up to 15 hours of video playback on a full charge. Audio comes via a dual-speaker setup, and the software includes multiple eye-protection features aimed at extended reading and streaming.
Other hardware is kept simple, including a single rear camera. Pricing starts at CNY 1 099, roughly $161 at current exchange rates, and Xiaomi has not yet provided timing for a wider international release.
