Xiaomi’s new Mijia smart gas water heater targets quieter kitchens, and HyperConnect makes it part of your routine

Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Smart Gas Water Heater 2 Silent Constant Temperature (16L) in China, positioning it as a quieter upgrade designed for everyday home use.

The company says the unit can run at noise levels as low as 32 dB(A), a spec aimed at reducing disruption in smaller apartments.

The model focuses on maintaining steadier hot water output, using onboard temperature sensing combined with algorithmic control to limit swings in water temperature. Xiaomi also promotes a TSI feature that it says can increase water flow rate by up to 246% under certain conditions.

HyperConnect and app-based controls

HyperConnect support brings the heater into Xiaomi’s wider smart home ecosystem, enabling remote control through the Xiaomi Home app. Users can adjust temperature and operating modes on the phone, or control it with Xiao AI voice commands where supported.

Automation is a central selling point, with Xiaomi suggesting it can link to devices like smart locks to begin pre-heating when you arrive home. The idea is to reduce waiting time for hot water while keeping control centralized in the app.

Pricing and likely availability

In China, the water heater is listed for pre-order at CNY 1,899, with a stated retail price of CNY 2,299. Xiaomi describes it as a Level 2 energy efficiency-rated product in a white enclosure measuring 520 x 360 x 172 mm.

There is no indication of an imminent international rollout, and Xiaomi has been selective about releasing major home appliances outside its domestic market. For now, the launch appears focused on China through Xiaomi’s retail channels.
