Oppo Pad Mini arrives as the compact tablet race heats up
Oppo has unveiled the Pad Mini, a compact Android tablet positioned as a high-end alternative in a segment that has recently seen renewed activity from rivals in China.
The launch leans on premium display and flagship-class performance to stand out in a smaller form factor.
At the center is an 8.8-inch AMOLED panel with a 2,520 x 1,680 resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio, aimed at reading, browsing and productivity. Oppo says the screen supports an adaptive 60 Hz to 144 Hz refresh rate and is framed by slim 2.99 mm bezels.
Flagship chipset and large battery
The Pad Mini is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, targeting fast app loading and smoother multitasking. Oppo also highlights an 8 000 mAh battery and 67 W wired charging over USB-C.
For cameras, the tablet includes an 8 MP front camera for calls and a 13 MP rear camera for quick shots and document capture. Oppo is also offering an optional matte display finish, a feature designed to reduce reflections and improve the pen-and-paper feel for some users.
Pricing, colors and availability
In China, pricing starts at CNY 3 699 for an 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage configuration. Higher tiers go up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage, with matte-screen versions reaching CNY 4 999.
The Pad Mini launches in Space Grey, Monet Purple and Peppermint Green. Oppo has not confirmed international availability or a broader rollout timeline, leaving buyers outside China watching for regional announcements.
