Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Like a Dragon Fan Favorite Goro Majima This Week, Plus a Limited-Time Festival

SEGA is expanding the crossover roster in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with a new free playable character: Goro Majima from the Like a Dragon series. The update is set to go live on April 29, bringing Majima to the kart racer alongside themed extras.

The version of Majima joining the lineup is inspired by his more recent pirate-themed portrayal, tying into Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Players will also get a new kart designed around that concept, shaped like a small pirate ship and named the Goromaru.

What arrives with the free DLC?

Beyond the character and vehicle, SEGA says the drop includes new cosmetics as well as character-specific emotes and audio. CrossWorlds has leaned heavily on post-launch content to keep its matchmaking active, mixing franchise crossovers with regular updates.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched in September 2025 and has since positioned its world-shifting gimmick as a key differentiator in the kart-racing space. Critics generally received the game well, and SEGA has maintained a steady cadence of additions since release.

Captain Majima Festival dates revealed

A limited-time in-game event called the Captain Majima Festival is scheduled to follow immediately after the DLC release. It is set to run from April 30 at 5 pm PT until May 3 at 4:59 pm PT, with themed rewards expected to be earnable through gameplay.

SEGA is also pairing the crossover moment with a timed Steam free trial, running from April 30 at 10 am PT through May 4 at 10 am PT. The overlap is likely aimed at converting trial players during the festival window, when lobbies and unlocks are most active.
