Pokemon GO sets Mega Falinks Super Mega Raid Day for May, with boosted Remote Raids and a new Mega Energy twist

Pokemon GO is adding a new Mega Evolution to its raid lineup in May, with Niantic confirming a Super Mega Raid Day centered on Mega Falinks. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, running from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

During the three-hour window, players will be able to challenge Mega Falinks in Super Mega Raids, with an increased chance to encounter Shiny Falinks. Niantic is also offering extra in-person raid opportunities by granting up to six additional free Raid Passes via Gym Photo Discs.

Remote Raid limits temporarily increased

Niantic will raise the Remote Raid limit to 20 for a limited period tied to the event. The expanded cap runs from Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m. through Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. PT, giving players more flexibility to join raids across time zones.

An optional paid ticket priced at $4.99 adds further bonuses, including the ability to collect up to 14 Raid Passes from Gym spins during the event hours. Ticket holders also receive a higher chance of earning Rare Candy XL after raid battles, plus extra rewards of 5 000 XP and 5 000 Stardust from Super Mega Raids.

Mega Energy changes arrive with event

The May raid day also acts as the launch point for an update to Mega Energy progression. Starting with the event, players can use Mega Energy to speed up a Pokemon’s Mega Level increases, reducing the grind for frequent Mega users.

Niantic says the Mega Energy cost will be lower for players who have Mega Evolved that same Pokemon multiple times. The adjustment is designed to make long-term Mega participation feel more rewarding, especially for raid-focused players building teams over multiple events.

The announcement arrives as Pokemon GO heads toward Pokemon GO Fest 2026, with in-person dates expected to begin soon after the Falinks event. Niantic has not confirmed headline raid debuts for GO Fest yet, but community attention remains high amid ongoing speculation about future Mega additions.
