Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Smart Electric Water Heater C 60L on its Youpin platform in China, expanding its growing lineup of connected home appliances. The 60-liter model is priced at 999 yuan, with an introductory price of 799 yuan during the early sales period.

The headline feature is a 2 200W heating element designed to deliver faster heating while remaining compatible with older household wiring. Xiaomi positions the unit as a practical fit for apartments, aiming to reduce the risk of breaker trips when other appliances are running.

Designed for longer hot-water use

Xiaomi says the water heater uses capacity expansion technology to increase the usable hot water output beyond the physical tank size. The company claims it can deliver up to 360 liters of hot water and sustain use for as long as 72 minutes under its stated test conditions.

Efficiency is also part of the pitch, with Xiaomi stating an 80% hot-water output rate and compliance with China’s Level 1 energy-efficiency benchmark. In everyday terms, the company is targeting households that need longer showers and multiple back-to-back uses with fewer reheats.

HyperOS and safety protections

The Mijia C 60L connects to Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem for remote controls via the Mijia app, including scheduling to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates where available. It also supports XiaoAI voice control for hands-free operation in the broader Xiaomi smart home setup.

On safety, Xiaomi lists nine layers of protection, including defenses against dry burning, overheating, freezing, overpressure, and overload. The unit also includes leakage protection and an anti-electric wall feature intended to improve electrical isolation.

Warranty and installation details

Xiaomi describes the heater as compact for its class, with dimensions of 740 x 461 x 432 mm, to simplify typical bathroom installations. The company includes a five-year warranty and an inner-tank replacement guarantee of eight years for leakage, depending on local terms.

As with many Youpin launches, availability and global rollout have not been confirmed, and pricing may vary if it reaches other markets. The release follows Xiaomi’s recent push into larger home appliances, including smart refrigerators and cleaning devices under the Mijia brand.
