Samsung’s next foldable may take a noticeably wider approach, according to a fresh leak that puts the rumored Galaxy Z Fold Wide side by side with Huawei’s Pura X Max.

The comparison is fueling expectations that Samsung is rethinking the Fold’s proportions to better match tablet-style use.

Images shared by leaker Ice Universe show the Galaxy Z Fold Wide and Pura X Max in a direct dimensions overlay, suggesting the two devices are converging on a similar form factor. While neither company has officially confirmed a head-to-head strategy, the timing highlights intensifying competition in large-screen foldables.

What the leaked dimensions suggest?

The Galaxy Z Fold Wide is rumored to measure 123.9 x 164.4 x 4.3 mm when unfolded, and 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8 mm when folded. The leak also points to a 4.7:3 cover display and a 4:3 inner screen, emphasizing a squarer, productivity-first layout.

Huawei’s Pura X Max is listed at 120 x 166.5 x 5.2 mm unfolded, and 120 x 85 x 11.2 mm folded. That would make Samsung’s device slightly smaller in two dimensions and thinner overall, while Huawei’s appears marginally taller and thicker when shut.

Why wider foldables matter now?

A wider cover display could address a long-running complaint about book-style foldables: narrow outer screens that feel cramped for typing and everyday apps. A 4:3-class inner display also aligns more closely with common tablet and document layouts, potentially improving multitasking.

The leak arrives as Samsung is expected to unveil its next foldables at its mid-year event, where new Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models typically debut. If the Galaxy Z Fold Wide materializes, it could signal Samsung’s most visible design shift for the Fold line in years.
