Axial SCX24 Chevy C10 lands May 6: Modular grille swaps and oil shocks aim to make this 1/24 RC crawler more capable
Axial is expanding its SCX24 lineup with a 1/24-scale Chevrolet C10 4×4 rock crawler, set to ship on May 6 with a list price of $149.99. The ready-to-run package is designed for slow, technical driving over obstacles rather than high-speed bashing.
The most eye-catching update is a modular grille system that lets owners change the truck’s front-end look across multiple C10 model years. Axial says the included inserts replicate the 1967/68, 1969/70, and 1971/72 styling cues, turning one body into several classic-era variants.
Chassis upgrades focus on control
Under the polycarbonate body, Axial is moving to oil-filled shocks intended to smooth suspension movement and improve stability on uneven terrain. Compared with spring-only setups, oil damping typically helps reduce bounce when crawling over ledges and loose surfaces.
Axial also highlights increased suspension articulation, which helps keep the tires planted as the chassis twists across rocks and indoor obstacles. That added contact can translate into steadier climbing and better grip at very low speeds.
Worm gears and included electronics
The drivetrain uses metal worm gears in both axles, a design that can package the axles more tightly for added ground clearance. Worm gears can also provide a natural holding effect on inclines, helping the truck stay put without relying solely on electronic braking.
In the box, Axial includes a Spektrum 2.4 GHz transmitter, a 350 mAh LiPo battery, and a USB charger, aiming to make the SCX24 Chevy C10 usable straight out of the package. The combination of cosmetic modularity and functional suspension upgrades positions it as a small-scale crawler built for customization as much as capability.
