Samsung rolls out April 2026 security patch to Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A56, starting in Europe
Samsung has begun pushing its April 2026 security update to two of its mid-range phones, the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A56, with the initial rollout currently concentrated in Europe.
The update is focused on security hardening rather than adding new features, but it can still be an important install for day-to-day protection.
According to the published bulletin for the April 2026 release, the patch addresses 47 security issues across Android and Samsung-specific components. These monthly fixes typically include a mix of severity levels, including patches for vulnerabilities that could be used to elevate privileges, leak data, or weaken device defenses if left unaddressed.
Which builds are being delivered?
On the Galaxy A37, the update is arriving as firmware version A376BXXS2AZC2, while the Galaxy A56 is receiving firmware version A566BXXSABZD2. Availability can vary by country, carrier approval, and device variant, so the same patch may appear at different times even within Europe.
Samsung’s phased rollout approach also means some users will see the update days or weeks before others. If you have either phone and have not been notified yet, you can manually check by going to Settings, then Software update, and tapping Download and install.
Why this patch still matters?
While security-only updates may seem routine, they are among the most practical upgrades for extending a phone’s safe lifespan.
Monthly patches help close newly discovered gaps before they are widely exploited, especially as attackers increasingly target unpatched devices at scale.
Samsung has not provided a precise timeline for when the update will expand beyond Europe, but broader availability is expected as the rollout progresses.
Users are generally advised to install security updates promptly and keep Google Play system updates enabled for additional protections between full firmware releases.
