Baseus has launched its MC2 clip-on earbuds in China, positioning the new model as a follow-up to the MC1 and leaning into the growing demand for open-ear designs that aim to stay secure without sealing the ear canal. The MC2 is listed at 349 yuan, or about $51, on major local retail channels.

The MC2 uses what Baseus calls a Cloud Airbag 2.0 structure, combining detachable silicone components in multiple sizes with a C-bridge made from a nickel-titanium alloy. The company says the goal is steadier wear across different ear shapes while keeping pressure more evenly distributed.

Comfort-first design, lighter fit

Baseus says a four-point support layout is designed to improve stability during movement, targeting workouts and commuting where traditional earbuds can shift. Each earbud weighs 5.1 g, a figure that places it among lighter clip-on options in this style.

On audio, the MC2 includes a triple magnetic circuit driver and a gold microcrystalline diaphragm, alongside support for Sony’s LDAC codec for higher-bitrate Bluetooth playback on compatible phones. Baseus also markets directional sound processing intended to reduce sound leakage, a common concern with open-ear products.

Battery, charging and key features

Battery life is a headline feature, with Baseus claiming up to 60 hours total including the charging case and up to 13 hours from the earbuds on a single charge. The 600 mAh case charges via USB-C, with Baseus advertising 3 hours of playback from a 10-minute top-up and around two hours for a full recharge.

Additional features include dual-device connectivity, touch controls, and a quad-microphone setup paired with AI noise reduction for calls. The MC2 also lists a low-latency mode rated at 38 ms, aimed at better sync for video and gaming.

IP67 rating targets outdoor use

Baseus rates the MC2 at IP67 for dust and water resistance, suggesting a focus on outdoor durability compared with many earbuds that stop at splash protection. Color options include Cloud White, Obsidian Black, and Tahiti Gray.

The launch arrives as more brands experiment with clip-on and open-ear designs that prioritize comfort and situational awareness over maximum isolation. Baseus has not detailed a global release date, but the company indicates wider availability is planned beyond China.
