Garmin Venu X1 beta 17.19 update arrives with call, mapping and climbing fixes, plus new sensor support
Garmin has released Beta version 17.19 for the Venu X1, marking the start of a new development cycle after several months without a fresh beta build for the premium smartwatch.
The update follows the recent stable Software Version 16.40, which focused on ironing out bugs introduced in earlier firmware.
The new beta targets everyday usability issues, including a fix for scenarios where users could not accept an incoming call from the watch. Garmin also adjusted the mute behavior so it applies only to the current phone call, rather than persisting beyond it.
Climbing controls and mapping tweaks
Garmin says Beta 17.19 resolves a problem that could stop the back and down keys from working properly during indoor climbing and bouldering activities. The company also points to improved responsiveness when starting a timer, alongside additional stability fixes aimed at reducing unexpected resets.
For navigation features, the update addresses a mapping bug where the popularity map layer would fail to display after routing was disabled. Another change prevents automatic track detection during trail run activities, which can interfere with how runs are recorded for some athletes.
New sensor and tracking options
Beta 17.19 adds support for Approach CT1 club sensors, expanding compatibility for golfers who use Garmin’s club-tracking accessories. It also introduces an option to enable LiveTrack automatically on a per-activity basis, making it easier to share real-time progress without toggling settings each time.
Garmin is not pushing the beta automatically, so Venu X1 owners who are enrolled in the beta program must manually check for it on the watch. The company notes the build also includes minor bug fixes and updated translations (GCM Translations 3.80).
As with most beta releases, availability can vary and some users may prefer to wait for the next stable rollout if they rely on the watch for mission-critical training or navigation. Garmin typically uses beta feedback to finalize fixes and refine performance before broad deployment.
