Xiaomi’s Redmi Pad 2 SE is set for a global launch, and a 4G model may be on the way
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Pad 2 SE in China, positioning the compact tablet as a low-cost option in its Redmi lineup.
Early signs now suggest the device is being prepared for a wider international rollout, including variants aimed at different regions.
References found in Xiaomi’s software have pointed to multiple global names for the same hardware, indicating a likely rebrand strategy outside China. The Wi‑Fi version is widely expected to arrive under Poco and Redmi naming, depending on the market.
Clues in HyperOS code
According to reports based on recent HyperOS code strings, Xiaomi may sell the tablet globally as the Poco C Pad and the Redmi Pad 2 9.7. The same findings also point to a separate cellular model that could launch as the Redmi Pad 9.7 4G.
Such regional renaming is common for Xiaomi, which often adapts product lines across Redmi, Poco, and Xiaomi-branded ranges to fit pricing and distribution plans. It can also signal carrier-focused releases where mobile connectivity is a selling point.
What it could replace globally?
If the international plans materialize, the Redmi Pad 2 SE would effectively take over from the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 in several markets. That older model has been sold in both Wi‑Fi and 4G versions, making a cellular option for the newer tablet a logical next step.
A global timeline has not been confirmed, but Xiaomi has historically waited weeks or months after a China launch to introduce budget tablets internationally. The company has also listed a cellular variant on its China product pages, even though availability there appears limited so far.
