Home Assistant has shipped a new iOS app update, version 2026.4.1, building on the 2026.4.0 release that arrived earlier this month.

The update focuses on sign-in reliability and polishing recently added features rather than introducing a major redesign.

The most notable change is a new re-authentication flow designed to handle expired tokens more smoothly. For users who manage their smart home remotely, the aim is to reduce interruptions when sessions time out and an app refresh is required.

Security and CarPlay refinements

Alongside the new token re-authentication flow, the release also improves certificate compatibility tied to Mutual Transport Layer Security, known as mTLS. Home Assistant has been expanding support for stronger authentication options, and this update is positioned as a stability step for that work.

Home Assistant also adds more control over what appears in Apple CarPlay by allowing CarPlay-linked entities to be hidden. That can help reduce clutter for drivers who only want a small set of controls visible on the vehicle display.

Bug fixes target crashes and UI

The 2026.4.1 update includes a set of bug fixes aimed at everyday usability. One fix addresses a crash that could occur after a call_service action launched from a deep link.

Additional fixes target issues affecting Kiosk mode as well as scrolling and focusing behavior in text fields. The update also resolves cases where widgets could appear blank, which could prevent quick access to key Home Assistant functions.

Version 2026.4.1 is rolling out to iPhone and iPad users through the Apple App Store. Home Assistant has not confirmed whether the same changes will arrive on Android on the same timeline.
