Foldable iPhone Ultra leak points to a 9.2 mm profile and punch-hole selfie camera, hinting at Apples design shift

Newly leaked technical drawings said to come from a case manufacturer are offering a sharper picture of Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone, often referred to in leaks as the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold. The documents suggest Apple is targeting a notably slim build compared with earlier claims.

According to the schematics, the device could measure about 9.23 mm when folded and roughly 4.7 mm when unfolded.

That would undercut previous rumors that put the first foldable iPhone closer to 11 mm folded, a thickness that would have been less competitive in today’s foldables market.

A thinner body, big camera bump

The same drawings highlight a prominent rear camera plateau that could push maximum thickness to roughly 13.7 mm at the module. The camera area is shown as large enough to accommodate a dual-sensor setup, with leaks pointing to two 48 MP cameras, likely wide and ultra-wide.

If these dimensions hold, the foldable iPhone could feel closer in hand to recent non-folding iPhones than expected, at least in overall thickness. The trade-off appears to be a camera bump that is visually and physically substantial, similar to the compromises seen on other premium foldables.

Apples selfie camera may look familiar

One of the more intriguing details is an inner-display punch-hole selfie camera, a layout common on Android foldables but not on current iPhones. The cutout is shown near the left corner of the unfolded display, which could influence how the device feels when used like a small tablet.

The schematics also appear to reinforce expectations that Face ID may not be the primary biometric option on this model. Instead, a side-mounted Touch ID implementation is indicated, aligning with some prior reporting about Apples approach to saving internal space in a foldable chassis.

Colors and timing remain uncertain

The leak also claims the foldable iPhone could launch in two color options, described as black and white. As with most pre-launch Apple hardware leaks, colors and finishes can be among the last details to change as mass production nears.

No official launch date has been confirmed by Apple, but the foldable iPhone is widely rumored to be positioned as a top-tier model in a future iPhone lineup. Until Apple acknowledges the product, the drawings should be treated as provisional, even if they match broader industry expectations.
