Logitech MX Master 4 Review: A Smarter, More Refined Productivity Mouse

The name Logitech is well known to anyone who owns a computer. The company has been developing a wide range of components for many years, with keyboards and mice standing out among its most popular products.

Its portfolio includes everything from very affordable devices costing around ten euros to premium models priced at over 100 euros. Not long ago, Logitech introduced an update to one of its most highly regarded wireless mice.

The MX Master line has become a synonym for productivity, setting high expectations not only for competitors but also for Logitech itself. Recently, the company unveiled the new MX Master 4, a model tasked with continuing the success of its predecessors.

But does it succeed? Here is a closer look at this device.

Design and Comfort

Back in 2022, Logitech released the MX Master 3S, which differed only slightly from the earlier MX Master 3. This time, however, the changes are more noticeable. One of the first differences you will spot is the reduced amount of rubberized coating.

While the previous model featured this texture across most of its surface, the new version limits it to the right side and the thumb rest area. This change alters the overall feel in hand. The MX Master 4 feels cleaner and less sticky, while still maintaining grip where it matters most.

The placement of the rubberized zones is highly precise, aligning naturally with the thumb, ring finger, and pinky. This helps maintain comfort during longer work sessions by stabilizing pressure points. Another noticeable update is that the MX Master 4 is slightly larger than its predecessor.

Despite being bigger and slightly heavier, the mouse remains extremely comfortable, arguably even more so than before. Its shape and size make it particularly suitable for users with medium to large hands. Although it is not a compact device, its dimensions bring more advantages than drawbacks.

Buttons and Customization

Logitech has also refined the button layout. The left and right buttons now extend around the scroll wheel, increasing the surface area and making clicks feel more natural.

The side buttons are easier to locate thanks to improved positioning and emphasis. A new gesture button has also been introduced, alongside another notable feature.

The MX Master 4 now includes the Actions Ring, which is удобно accessible with the thumb. Pressing it opens a customizable quick-action menu that can be tailored for specific applications such as Adobe Photoshop.

For example, since writing is a daily activity for me, I assigned the fourth and fifth buttons to copy-related tasks, the upper scroll wheel to switch between browser tabs, and another button for taking screenshots.

It is also worth mentioning how quiet the clicks are, especially the main buttons. Logitech highlights that the MX Master 4 is one of its quietest mice, and this claim is easy to agree with. Only the fourth and fifth buttons produce a slightly louder click.

Performance and Features

Like its predecessor, the MX Master 4 features a sensor capable of reaching 8000 DPI, which is an impressive figure. This indicates the number of dots per inch and is twice as high as in earlier versions of the device.

Another advantage is its ability to work smoothly not only on a mousepad but also directly on a desk or other flat surfaces. This is made possible by the high DPI and Logitech’s tracking technology.

Battery life remains excellent. While it depends on usage habits, the mouse did not require charging for more than two weeks after initial use, which is a strong result.

A key addition is haptic feedback. The MX Master 4 integrates this feature into many actions, from simple scrolling and clicks to more complex tasks such as video editing or design work. This adds a tactile layer that enhances control and precision.

Users can choose between four intensity levels: subtle, low, medium, and high. The medium setting is likely the most balanced, offering clear feedback without causing fatigue. Stronger feedback may drain the battery faster, although exact figures are not provided.

Verdict

I have been using the MX Master series for many years, and the latest model is a meaningful upgrade that deserves attention. Logitech has refined the design and introduced useful new features.

The mouse remains highly comfortable even during long sessions, while the Actions Ring and programmable buttons offer a level of flexibility that is difficult to overstate. It is a tool that adapts to the user rather than forcing the user to adapt to it, while maintaining excellent ergonomics.

As someone who spends a lot of time writing, having a reliable mouse is essential. The MX Master 4 has improved my workflow more than I expected.

Although it costs over 120 euros, it is a device that justifies its price. If you spend a significant amount of time at your computer, the MX Master 4 is a strong investment.
