Vivo X500 Pro Max leak hints at LOFIC 50MP main camera and 200MP periscope zoom, plus a surprising color upgrade

A fresh leak has outlined camera hardware being tested for the Vivo X500 Pro Max, suggesting the brand is preparing another photography-focused flagship for its next X-series cycle.

The information comes as early details about the wider Vivo X500 lineup continue to surface ahead of an expected China launch later this year.

According to the tip, Vivo is evaluating a 50-megapixel main camera built around LOFIC sensor technology. LOFIC, short for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is designed to curb blown highlights by storing excess charge, which can help preserve detail in bright scenes and improve dynamic range.

What the camera leak suggests?

The same leak claims the Pro Max prototype also includes a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, pointing to a major emphasis on long-range zoom. If finalized, it would position the device among a small group of flagships using very high-resolution periscope modules to boost detail and flexibility across zoom levels.

Vivo is also said to be considering a multispectral sensor, a component typically used to refine color reproduction and white balance by capturing additional spectral data. While not confirmed, the setup may still include an ultra-wide camera, which would round out a conventional triple-camera array.

Screen sizes and possible naming

Separate leaks about the X500 family indicate two main display sizes are being planned: around 6.4 inches and 6.9 inches.

The larger model is rumored to carry a Max-style name, signaling a split between a compact flagship and a large-screen flagship in the same generation.

Chipset talk and launch window

Early speculation has also linked the standard Vivo X500 to a future Dimensity 9600 platform, with higher-end variants potentially using a Pro-tier version.

As with most pre-launch chip rumors, specifications remain unconfirmed until Vivo and MediaTek announce final products and regional configurations.

For timing, the Vivo X500 series is widely rumored to debut in China around September, aligning with the company’s typical cadence for major X-series launches. Reports also suggest Vivo could use the same event to introduce a first-party vlogging camera, expanding its imaging push beyond smartphones.
