Samsung’s next foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold8, is again the subject of early leaks, this time focusing on a small but noticeable design tweak. A well-known tipster claims Samsung is shrinking the punch-hole cutout for the cover-screen selfie camera.

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold7’s front camera hole measures about 3.7 mm across, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 could reduce that to roughly 2.5 mm. If accurate, the change would make the cover display look cleaner in everyday use, especially when reading or watching video.

What the new display cutout suggests?

The leak points to a new manufacturing approach that reduces the visible opening without removing the camera entirely. A smaller cutout does not automatically mean better image quality, but it can signal improved lens packaging or display integration.

For now, there is no confirmed word on whether Samsung will also upgrade the cover selfie camera’s sensor or optics. On the Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung used a 10 MP front-facing camera on the cover display, and the Fold8’s final specs remain unconfirmed.

Other Fold8 changes in leaks

The same wave of rumors suggests the Galaxy Z Fold8 may be slightly thicker than the Fold7, despite keeping a similar footprint. Leaked dimensions put the Fold8 at about 4.5 mm thick when unfolded and around 9 mm when folded, versus roughly 4.2 mm and 8.9 mm for the Fold7.

Camera changes are also being discussed, with one leak claiming Samsung may increase the ultrawide camera resolution to 50 MP from 12 MP. Samsung has not commented on the Fold8, and final design and specs could still change before launch.
