Amazfit T-Rex 3 firmware update adds rowing machine support and sharper navigation tools
Amazfit is rolling out a new firmware update for the T-Rex 3 smartwatch, bringing workout and navigation upgrades in version 4.8.3.5.
The release follows an earlier update that focused on running metrics and route guidance refinements.
The latest firmware expands workout controls by letting users adjust settings such as always-on display on a per-activity basis. It also adds support for FTMS-compatible rowing machines, enabling the watch to share training data like power and distance.
More data during workouts
During training, the T-Rex 3 now shows heart rate zone information mid-workout, a quality-of-life change for users tracking intensity. The update also adds running and trail running enhancements, including equivalent pace data shown by segment.
Navigation and VO2 Max tweaks
For navigation, new on-route metrics include distance remaining plus ascent and descent from the current position to the next waypoint. Amazfit also adjusted the sensitivity of turn reminders to improve route prompts in real-world use.
The company says the algorithm behind VO2 Max estimates has been optimized, aiming to improve accuracy over time. The update is rolling out in phases and is installed through the Zepp app when it becomes available in a user’s region.
