MediaTek has added two new chips to its Dimensity lineup, the Dimensity 7450 and Dimensity 7450X, positioning them for mid-premium Android phones expected to arrive in the coming months.

The processors appeared on MediaTek’s product pages ahead of any major launch event, hinting at near-term device announcements.

Both chips are built on a 4 nm-class process and use an octa-core CPU design, pairing four Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked up to 2.6 GHz with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, a setup aimed at smoother gameplay and high-refresh displays.

Gaming and AI get a boost

For gaming, MediaTek includes HyperEngine along with Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0 to dynamically balance performance and power draw during longer sessions. The company also touts its sixth-generation NPU for on-device AI features, claiming up to a 7 percent performance uplift versus the prior generation.

Connectivity options cover 5G with up to 3.27 Gbps peak downlink and support for 3CC carrier aggregation, alongside Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. These specs are designed to reduce latency for online play while keeping mid-tier phones competitive on network features.

Camera and display capabilities

On imaging, the Dimensity 7450 series uses MediaTek’s Imagiq 950 ISP and supports up to 200-megapixel sensors, plus 4K HDR video recording and hardware-assisted noise reduction. MediaTek also lists support for Ultra HDR, reflecting the industry’s broader push toward HDR photos across apps and displays.

Display support tops out at WFHD+ at 120 Hz or Full HD+ at up to 144 Hz, aligning with the gaming-focused positioning. The chips support LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X memory up to 6 400 Mbps and work with UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 storage.

What makes the 7450X different?

The key distinction is the Dimensity 7450X’s support for dual-display operation tailored to flip-style foldables, where an external cover screen and internal display need coordinated behavior. That makes the 7450X a more natural fit for clamshell devices, while the standard 7450 targets conventional phones.

Early chatter suggests the 7450X could appear in upcoming flip foldables, potentially including Motorola’s next Razr generation, though device makers have not confirmed final chip choices. With these two variants, MediaTek appears to be carving out clearer silicon options for gaming-centric midrange phones and more affordable foldables.
