Apple is expected to mark the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027, and fresh reporting from the supply-chain rumor mill suggests the company may be preparing a notable display redesign for that milestone model.

The latest claim comes from Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station, who says Apple is developing a new iPhone screen in partnership with Samsung Display, one of Apple’s long-standing panel suppliers.

What a quad-curved display implies?

According to the leak, the anniversary iPhone could use a quad-curved display, meaning the panel curves on all four sides rather than only along the left and right edges as seen on some earlier curved phones.

The report also claims the panel may be built without a traditional polarizer layer, a change that can reduce thickness and potentially improve efficiency depending on the display stack and materials used.

How this fits Apple’s design cycle?

If accurate, the move would stand out after years in which Apple’s iPhones have largely favored flatter front glass, a direction that also influenced many Android flagships to shift away from dramatic edge-curves.

A quad-curved design could help push a more seamless, all-screen appearance, but it may also raise practical questions around durability, glare control, accidental touches, and repair costs.

For now, Apple has not commented, and details like how far the display would wrap toward the frame, whether it enables smaller bezels, or how it affects Face ID and the front camera remain unclear ahead of 2027.
