Xiaomi puts Redmi Pad 2 9.7 on global site, hinting at a wider rollout for its compact 4G tablet
Xiaomi has signaled a broader international launch for its new compact tablet, the Redmi Pad 2 9.7, by listing both the Wi‑Fi model and the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 4G on its global website. The move follows an initial release that surfaced in parts of Southeast Asia, suggesting more markets are next.
The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is positioned as a smaller alternative to Xiaomi’s larger Redmi Pad 2 lineup, targeting buyers who want a more portable Android tablet.
Xiaomi has not published a full country-by-country launch schedule, but the global listings typically precede wider availability.
Specs focus on display and battery
According to Xiaomi’s product pages, the tablet features a 9.7-inch display with a 2 048 x 1 280 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi also advertises up to 600 nits peak brightness in an outdoor mode, aiming to improve visibility in bright conditions.
Both variants are built around the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 platform, paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 64 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The tablet also includes a 7 600 mAh battery in a 7.4 mm body, with Xiaomi listing a weight of 406 g.
Where the Redmi Pad 2 could launch next?
Xiaomi has not confirmed pricing beyond early regional launches, or when the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 will reach regions such as Europe, the Middle East, or Africa.
However, the appearance of the device on Xiaomi’s global pages, along with availability in Japan, points to an expansion that may arrive soon.
The cellular option could be a key differentiator in markets where buyers want a compact tablet that can stay connected without relying on Wi‑Fi. If Xiaomi maintains aggressive pricing, the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 4G could compete directly with entry-level Android tablets that typically cut back on display refresh rate or mobile connectivity.
