Russian authorities have claimed that they shot down 74 Ukrainian drones during the night from Monday to Tuesday, local media report, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense. Among the intercepted drones, 22 were reportedly downed in Rostov region alone. However, it remains unclear how many drones were actually launched toward Russian territory.

According to the acting governor of Rostov, Yuriy Sliusar, a blaze erupted at the railway station in Salsk. He stated that a private house and a vehicle were damaged, tragically killing the driver. Local authorities are still verifying the driver’s identity via Telegram updates. Videos circulating online appear to show a massive fire at the station.

Russia’s state train operator also acknowledged the incident, confirming that one of the trains caught fire and the station’s power supply was disrupted—bringing rail services to a halt. Unverified reports further suggest that the fire may have involved a military fuel train.

Meanwhile, Reuters notes that Ukrainian officials have not commented on these overnight drone strikes. In past cases, Ukraine has described similar operations over Russian territory as retaliatory measures in response to earlier Russian attacks targeting Ukraine.

Earlier that night, Russia launched missile strikes on several Ukrainian regions, including Kamianske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Governor Serhiy Lysak confirmed two civilian deaths and five injuries in the city following the assault.

Additionally, Russian forces targeted a penal colony in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where regional leader Ivan Fedorov reported 16 confirmed fatalities and at least 35 others wounded after the attack.
